Worst dinner in 30 years at least ... sorry but that had to be said ...
We have been to the Hotel Central several times, most recently in summer 2020. You can find the hotel in the middle of town, the location is perfect. Bad, Kurpark and the most important cafés in Bad Elster are within easy walking distance. The hotel is a time-honored building with atmosphere. Corridors and rooms are covered with thick carpets. The rooms are large, each individually furnished and very clean. The daily room service is unobtrusive and perfect. One or the other furniture classic from GDR times can be admired. Very good beds and heavy new plastic windows guarantee a good night's sleep. Wi-Fi is free, and the hotel's own parking spaces are available at the hotel for a small fee. The breakfast is excellent: bread, fresh rolls, cold cuts and cheese, juices, a small cereal corner, soft-boiled eggs and a selection of fruits are available. Excellent filter coffee is already waiting on the table. On request, the young employee conjures up warm egg dishes such as scrambled or fried eggs - at no extra charge, in line with the hotel's service philosophy. Service is very important anyway, so when we asked for a taxi (out of concern for the driver's license) late in the evening after a family celebration in Bad Elster, the hotel manager picked us up with the hotel bus. The driving service is unrivaled anyway: for a longer hotel stay, guests are picked up and brought home from further afield - an invaluable advantage for older people. Boss and boss have a dry Vogtland humor - those who meet them with (in our case Bavarian) humor will find the friendliest and most generous hosts in them. The Hotel Central in Bad Elster is not a 4-star superior hotel with QM certificates and a portrait of the "Employee of the Month" on the wall - nor does it want to be. You come to Central to get to know the country and its people. If on a mild summer evening you can sit outside on the hotel terrace after an opulent dinner prepared by the hotel manager, the boss spends another round of schnapps and talks to you about god and the world, then you know one thing for sure: here you are as a guest welcome, and that's how it has to be.
We stayed in the hotel for 3 days (2 nights). We liked it very much. Friendly staff, top service and home-style food at fair prices. It was definitely not our last visit! LG Zimmermann family
We felt very comfortable from the start, thanks in particular to Ilona who went to great lengths to fulfill our every wish, food was excellent, good home-style cuisine at fair prices! Furniture is nostalgic / vintage but very nice, everything is clean and tidy. What we also liked is that the brine thermal bath is easily accessible on foot and the salt grotto is on the corner.
Today we were in Bad Elster and we were really hungry ... after a long search, since everything was closed, we found the Gasthaus Central. When we went in there, we were not greeted and only pointed to the square with our fingers. Normally we should have left straight away, but there was a sign outside on the wall saying "vegetarian dishes" and the hunger was too great! After we asked what you had, the only answer was "mushroom omelette" ... well ... ordered and eaten ... nothing special and the mushrooms were probably out of the tin! When we wanted the bill, the waitress went into the kitchen, mumbled a few numbers and came back a short time. We didn't know what to pay? ... when the waitress again, completely annoyed, slammed an amount of almost € 22 on the table. We really thought we heard badly! For 2 Russians and 2 omelets? Bad joke! When my husband asked what an omelette was all about, she just said it was written outside! 7.90 €! Bad unfriendly staff, totally the bad atmosphere-house of wax sends its regards! Once and never again! Better go to the bakery across the street, the staff is friendly and you get something for your money!
Nice GDR Museum ? ... breakfast top ? ... the rooms and hallways could use a renovation and new furniture ...
An old plush hotel, the room on the street side is very noisy, the toilet ventilation is extremely loud and cannot be switched off manually
Very friendly and clean
For a 3 star hotel and the price-performance ratio offered more than okay. We had a large room balcony. Surely there are one or two things that could be done better or that were not 100 percent okay. But where is it not? Each also has its own view. For example, the bed was too low for me, whereas it was too soft for my wife. We were the last for breakfast each time and there was still enough. If the coffee was not enough, there was no problem. The young lady who is there in the morning is very nice and friendly. The hotel is in a good location. Parks and the more than recommended bath are nearby. My wife had forgotten her jacket. One call was enough and the jacket was sent to. Thanks again for everything !!!
Price performance fits. Everything was clean and comfortably furnished. I personally didn't expect anything else. Staff is very friendly. I would book the room again for short stays in Bad Elster. Breakfast is clear and the essentials are there.
Low prices especially for Bad Elster conditions. Coffee pot for € 1.50! Where else can you get that? The ambience is rustic and has charm. Food tastes great too!
Very nice service. Food also very good. Gladly again.
Far below the standard German restaurants. It could also be a rest stop in Romania. The staff looked bored and neglected. mutatis mutandis, we were told that there is to eat today "nothing big more." That was our first and last visit!
Very delicious food, ambience is typical DDR style but very comfortable. I really liked it here.
We were looking for a restaurant and finally found this, where stood at the entrance "Schnitzelvariantionen". With pleasure on various Schnitzelangebote we dared, to go Saturday 19:30 in the restaurant. After a scrutinizing look at the dog, at the wrist watch and a "well then come in" we were greeted anything but warmly. In a little modern restaurant we were seated at a table. The dog was of course attached to the table and still sniffed something around. The waiter then commanded the dog directly with a bad undertone to refrain from doing so. After we were asked rude, if we want to drink something and in the map also found no Schnitzelvariationen, we are gone. Ergo: dog-unfriendly, 19:30 too late for the waiter, unfriendly staff - never again. What we can recommend instead is the golden anchor. Very friendly and professional staff, high quality (which you can already see on the cloth napkins), dog-friendly and Schnitzelvariationen!
For a spa this hotel is shameful, you can not say more. The economy below is empty not a single guest, with every hotel and restaurant in the vicinity is full. On good German rather a few euros more spent and you have something clever.
One of best hotel in the region as price/performance. Breakfast is also good enough. The region is perfect place to relax all year around. Spring and fall are the best.
Eaten very well. Nice service. What more do you want.
I have mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand, it's very run down and desperately needs a renovation. On the other hand, it's charming East Germany design and super friendly owners are a big draw. If you are okay with a few days of time travel to the past, this is a good choice also because of the central location.
Sweet little pension, as a hotel I would not call it. The rooms are small and mostly lovingly decorated, the style reminiscent of the late 80's early 90's. No big hotel chain rather a small family business so you should not screw your claims too high, yet I expect cleanliness in the bathroom the photos say I think everything so I do not go further. The cleaning staff could also wipe dust from the TV picture. Otherwise, the staff is quite nice, at least the one I got to know until now.
I found myself in good hands in this hotel from the start. The staff is very nice, happy to respond to the wishes of the guests. The atmosphere is familiar. The rooms are very cozy. Although the furnishings seem to be from the 70s, everything fits together well there: furniture, decoration and even the menu. That gives the house its very own charm. Breakfast and dinner were good, like at home with mothers in the old days, tasty and varied. The location directly opposite the rose garden is ideal and enables relaxing morning and evening walks around the gondola pond. If I am in Bad Elster again, I will definitely book there. Many thanks for everything!
I'm there
